POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES -

Provides leadership and direction for the University Health System (UHS) Department of Protective Services function at designated facility(s). -Oversees daily operations and is responsible for administrative and supervisory enforcement duties involving general and criminal regulations and institutional rules. -Provides for the protection, safety and welfare of patients, visitors, staff, physicians and property within the areas under the control and jurisdiction of UHS. -Promotes the UHS Guest Relations policy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Some college required. Associates or Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or related field from an accredited college is preferred. -Successful completion of the Texas Peace Officer's Training course approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) is required. -Intermediate certification by TCLEOSE is required. -Advance or Master's certification is preferred. -Five years experience as a police officer, including military and/or federal law enforcement, and one year of police supervisory experience is required. -Police Officer supervisory experience in a hospital or ambulatory care service is preferred.

LICENSURE

A current license as a Texas Peace Officer is required. -Must possess a valid Texas Drivers' License and clean driving record.
