expertise! Job Summary and Qualifications POSITION SUMMARY The
Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible for all
aspects of diagnostic and interventional procedures performed in
the Specials Suite. Performs technical duties utilizing various
types of equipment to image selected vascular structures or
therapeutic intervention. Principles of positioning, radiographic
sciences, and radiation protection are exercised with specialized
techniques. Assists and supports the physicians with invasive
procedures. Has responsibility for patient charge entry,
availability of procedure supplies and inventory management.
Maintains professional judgment and conduct that is complimentary
of the ARRT Code of Ethics and St. David's Healthcare Values.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES I CARE: Integrity Compassion

performing interventional technologist responsibilities Operates
and positions the fluoroscopy and Digital Imagery efficiently and
effectively, demonstrates ability to trouble-shoot errors. Pan
table to accurately visualize requested/appropriate views.
Identifiesanatomical orientation on all requiredimages, andensures
proper film ID on images. Provides patient care in coordination
with team members. Assures clear, effective
communicationregardingpatient care. Demonstratesability to
recognize changes inpatient'sphysical and mental status, informs
nurse/radiologist. Participates in intervention. Sets up the
Ultrasound unit for the radiologist tooperateandsendsplacement
images to PACS. Completes Lab/Micro orders for specimens collected
in procedures and handles according to policy. Anticipates the
patient care needs of the nurse; assist in code, operate related
non-imaging equipment. Demonstrate Excellence in scrub tech
clinical skills Demonstrates safety skills when operating the power
injector; adheres to set guidelines. Performs scrub role during
invasive procedures including, but not limited to: Competently
assist physicians with procedure, Anticipates and responds to the
needs of the performing physician, Demonstrate sterile technique
for handling sterile instruments/supplies, Manage procedure wires
and catheters, Product selections appropriate to case/patient.
Proficiently remove sheaths and hold pressure to achieve
hemostasis. All fluids and medication are labeled as outlined in
policy. Anticipates and responds to the needs of the physician,
nurse and co-technologist during the procedure Demonstrates
Accountability for Safety Practices in Interventional Radiology and
Diagnostic Imaging: Identifies patient verbally and confirms with 2
patient identifiers (order or request) with patient ID band during
first contact and prior to medication administration. Performs
"Procedural Pause" on all exams; verifies exam/side and ensures
Meditech order matches the written order. Ensures indicators
forprocedure isappropriate. Medications and sharps aresecured at
all times. UtilizeseMARfor all chemicals, medications and contrast
administered for imagingprocedure. Administer contrast mediain
accordance withthe Medication Usage and Contrast Policies:
Medications are secure at all times; removed fromAcudoseafter
patient screening and prior to administration. Practices the
5-rights for medication administration. Evaluates and documents
complete contrastquestionnaireabout medical history, allergies, and
contrast history prior to all administration. Relays to supervising
radiologist or physician asappropriate;documents. Completes Risk
Management Report in Meditech for Medication/ADR related events.
Completes required documentation and reporting for extravasations.
Follows set guidelines when performing venipuncuture; has completed
approval process. Conducts Fall Assessment when acquiring patients
from room and returning patients to rooms/ED/ISS or post portable
procedure. Demonstrates safe practice with HIGH risk for fall
patients; does not leave unattended. Secures patient with table
straps, documents in OR module. Site marking is performed
immediately after the pre-procedural pause and time out is
completed according to policy prior to start of invasive procedure.
All fluids and medication are labeled when removed from original
containers it not given immediately; on procedure invasive trays,
oral contrast, injector, etc. Adheres to radiation plan
consistently demonstrates an awareness of Radiation Safety
Practices. Protects self, patient, staff and public from
unnecessary radiation. Screens and documents the possibility of
pregnancy on all women of the childbearing age. Employs techniques
to minimize radiation exposure by adhering to the ALARA program.
Completed required forms and event report for flu or time over 60
minutes Protects patient, public and self by adhering to Infection
Control Policies and guidelines. Safely transports patient by
utilizing the transporting policies and performing patient
"Hand-Off" at all periods of patient exchange. Uses the Invasive
Form when required and Hand-off to patient's RN. Demonstrates
preparedness for patient arrest or critically ill patients; aware
of technologist role in code. Performs daily crash cart checks and
operate department monitoring devices Demonstrates Accountability
for Clinical Responsibilities in Specials: Completes all OR module
on invasive procedure at time of procedure or immediately
following. Completes required documentation in PACS and Meditech,
performs end of day review to ensure all exams have been moved to
taken and pushed to PACS. Prepares patient for procedure; pulls
correct orders and consents. Ensures the patient interventional
procedure is chargedcorrectlycalling forassistancewhen needed.
Completes charging and paperwork for consignment supplies. Tracks
implant devices in OR module and Implant Log. Inventories stock
annually. Maintains a clean organized and safe work environment,
room and cabinets are clutter free. Demonstrates Integrity
Consistent with the Hospital Mission: Functions independently and
problem solves effectively, considering alternatives. Ensures
imaging and support equipment is functioning properly. Follows
