Setting: Cardiology Minimum of 2 years vascular experience required
This position will be primarily vascular with occasional echoes.
Registered Vascular Tech required. Must be willing to obtain echo

Summary The Multi-modality Sonographer performs basic to advanced
ultrasound services. These may include abdominal, Ob/Gyn, cardiac,
vascular, musculoskeletal, and small parts. This position examines
the patient's clinical history to identify the examination's
purpose. It frames the clinical questions the examination should
answer and expands the examination as needed. Essential Functions
of the Role Perform multiple modality ultrasound procedures using
various equipment and techniques. Make necessary measurements for
accurate, high-quality results. Identifies and defines
abnormalities specific to the procedure. Extends the examination
scope appropriately, deviating from standard techniques when
necessary. Correlates other diagnostic test results with anatomy
and function. Utilizes appropriate protection measures during
procedures. May assist physicians in procedure and operating rooms
by performing ultrasound studies. This aids in complex procedures
to decrease risk factors. Prepares patients for procedures and
obtains clinical history, including physical findings and lab data.
Fits imaging techniques for comprehensive exams to avoid errors.
Explains the purpose of the ultrasound examination to the patient
and answers questions. Records statistics and performs daily
maintenance of the ultrasound Lab and its equipment, reporting all
malfunctions as appropriate. Acts as a resource to other staff,
physicians and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures
and studies to optimize patient care. Works closely with the
ultrasound team to ensure quality processes and adherence to
protocols. Assists with unit or organization accreditation
activities as delegated. Implements protocols as new technology
evolves, and ensures implementation and adherence to system
standards. Assures operation of equipment by performing quality
checks following manufacturer's recommendations and troubleshooting
equipment as required. Key Success Factors Must be familiar with
approved clinical protocols for each type of ultrasound examination
to be performed. Must meet all qualifications for any two of these
modalities: Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, or small
parts. Work a minimum of 25% of the time in the second modality.
Pediatric and adult scopes are studied as separate specialties by
certification. Knowledge and ability to apply complex sonographic
methods, instrumentation and techniques. Knowledge of relevant
anatomy and physiology for each different specialty. Knowledge of
proper infection control, including precautionary procedures.
Knowledge of relevant laws regarding patient confidentiality and
privacy. Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both
orally and in writing, with healthcare providers, including other
sonographers, physicians and nurses. Skilled in the utilization of

serve. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program or
2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS
or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer. Must have TWO of the
following: Adv Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), ARRT-S Sonography
(ARRT-S), ARRT-VI Interventional Rad (ARRT-VI), Musculoskeletal
Sonography (MSK), Reg Congenital Cardiac Sono (RCCS), Registered
Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS),
Ped. Echocardiography (PE) (RDCS-PE), Reg Diag Med Sono-Abdomen
(AB) (RDMS-AB), Reg Diag Med Sono-Breast (BR) (RDMS-BR), RDMS Fetal
Echocardiography (RDMS-FE), Reg Diag Med Sono-OB/GYN (OB)
(RDMS-OB), RDMS-Pediatric Sonography (PS) (RDMS-PS), Registered
Vascular Sonographer (RVS), Registered Vascular Tech (RVT):
