Job Description:
Job Summary Through the AmeriCorps Texas grant program, Texas
Southmost College ( TSC ) will have AmeriCorps members who will 1)
increase communication about and access to campus resources and
support and 2) increase engagement in campus activities and with
academic support services at TSC in Brownsville, Texas. At the end
of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be
responsible for increasing TSC students’, who were served by the
program, fall-to-spring persistence rate to 75% and fall-to-fall
persistence rate of 63%. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Objective of the Assignment: Serve in the Communication/Contact
Center for Student Services to increase communication about and
access to campus resources and support. Act as first point of
contact for students and answer calls about admissions,
registration, academic advising, course catalog, etc. Make
connections across campus with the purpose to connect students with
the correct department to meet their needs. Disseminate information
through phone lines to any student or prospective student including
but not limited to: campus departments; admission application
materials, deadlines, requirements, orientation week; financial aid
deadlines; campus events; etc. Assist in coordinating and
implementing outreach efforts for student services. E.g., Welcome
Week, campus events, conferences, webinars, etc. to disseminate
knowledge of college procedures and policies to students Measures
of the Assignment: Number of students who receive personalized
communication about registration, applications, or campus events
and: Persist to end of term of completion of program (short-term
outcome). Register for and attend following term: Winter/Spring
from Fall or Summer/Fall from Spring (mid-term outcome). Register
for and attend the term starting one year from initial point of
capture or complete their program (mid-term outcome). Physical
