Location: San Antonio, TX (On-site with some flexibility) Salary
Range: $75,000-$85,000 Position Summary TEAMability is seeking an
experienced and detail-oriented Director of Finance to serve as the
organization’s financial steward and full-charge accountant,
ensuring fiscal integrity, transparency, and sustainability during
a period of continued growth. This role is responsible for
overseeing all financial, accounting, and internal control
functions, with a strong emphasis on accurate reporting, cash
management, compliance, and financial strategy within a nonprofit
healthcare setting. The Director of Finance works closely with the
CEO, leadership team, Board, auditors, and external partners to
ensure TEAMability’s financial systems and practices support its
mission of serving individuals with complex disabilities. Primary
Responsibilities Financial Management & Accounting (Full?Charge
Accountant) - Serve as full-charge accountant for the organization,
overseeing all day-to-day accounting functions - Maintain the
general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and
month-end and year-end close - Prepare accurate and timely
financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) - Manage
cash flow, monitor liquidity, and provide regular cash position
updates to the CEO - Ensure appropriate internal controls and
separation of duties - Oversee accounts payable, accounts
receivable, and expense management - Maintain fixed asset schedules
and depreciation Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Reporting -
Develop and manage the annual organizational budget in partnership
with the CEO - Prepare forecasts and financial models to support
decision-making - Provide clear, board-ready financial reports and
dashboards - Support Finance Committee and Board meetings with
financial analysis and narrative context Payroll, HR & Benefits
Administration - Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy,
timeliness, and compliance - Administer employee benefits,
retirement plans, and related vendor relationships - Ensure
compliance with employment laws, nonprofit regulations, and
organizational policies Healthcare & Revenue Oversight (Non-Billing
Role) - Collaborate with operations and clinical leadership to
ensure accurate financial tracking of healthcare revenue - Oversee
financial aspects of insurance reimbursements and Medicaid revenue
(without managing day-to-day billing workflows) - Monitor trends in
reimbursement, write-offs, and revenue performance Compliance,
Audit & Risk Management - Serve as primary point of contact for
auditors, tax preparers, and financial consultants - Lead annual
audit and IRS Form 990 preparation - Ensure compliance with
federal, state, and nonprofit regulatory requirements - Maintain
contracts, insurance policies, and risk management documentation
Grant & Fund Accounting Support - Track restricted and unrestricted
funds - Support grant budgeting, reporting, and financial
compliance - Collaborate with development staff and CEO to ensure
accurate use-of-funds reporting Qualifications Required: -
Demonstrated experience as a full-charge accountant - 5 years of
progressive accounting or finance experience - Experience in a
medical office, healthcare, nonprofit healthcare, or similar
setting - Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and
nonprofit accounting - High attention to detail with the ability to
translate financial data into clear insights Preferred: -
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field -
Experience working with Medicaid, insurance reimbursements, or
healthcare revenue - Experience supporting Boards and Finance
Committees - Familiarity with nonprofit audits and Form 990
